ECPE, the European Center for Power Electronics e.V., was founded in 2003 on the initiative of leading power electronics industries as an industry-driven research network. Its mission is to promote education, innovation, science, research, and technology transfer in the field of power electronics across Europe. Today, the network has grown to include over 230 members. The primary objectives are pre-competitive research, education and advanced training, as well as public relations for power electronics in Europe.

Do you want to become part of the leading industrial and research network for Power Electronics in Europe?
Network-internal research is organised within the ECPE Joint Research Programme, which primarily focuses on power electronics in automotive and industrial systems, as well as renewable energy and smart grids.
ECPE Workshops and Tutorials cover a wide range of up-to-date topics, specifically targeting engineers in the industry. Additionally, a power electronics online course is available for members on the ECPE website.
The ECPE public relations and lobbying activities to increase awareness of the role and importance of power electronics for Europe have two main directions, publicly funded research programmes addressing power electronics topics and future young engineers.
ECPE European Center for Power Electronics e.V. was founded in 2003 on the initiative of the 8 leading companies of power electronics industry as an industry-driven Research Network.
As a European technology and innovation platform, ECPE drives precompetitive joint research and develops research and technology roadmaps for a strategic research agenda aligned with the future needs of the European power electronics industry. The ECPE education and training program covers a broad range of current topics, specifically tailored for engineers in the industry.
During the ECPE foundation phase, emphasizing the importance of power electronics was a major challenge. However, driven by megatrends such as increasing energy efficiency, the adoption of renewable energy, and later, e-mobility, the significance of power electronics and its recognition have greatly evolved. The field has transitioned from a niche concern to a central focus.
Power electronics is now a key technology that impacts various sectors, including energy infrastructure, motion control and drives, industrial automation, and transportation. Additionally, it serves as a technology driver for future intelligent systems with communication capabilities and offers significant energy-saving potential in residential and office environments.
Apart from the registered association ECPE e.V., a limited company (GmbH) has been founded, which develops research roadmaps in cooperation with the involved industry and university partners, prioritises research topics and conducts research contracts with leading European Competence Centres - university institutes and research centers. The budget arises from a research fund, coming from the ECPE partner companies.
